Musical #11:42nd Street (1933)

You know, the movie wasn’t my favorite ... I think I loved it too Footlight Parade, but soon began to have such great elements:  all the development is attractive (the discourse of the teacher in “Fame," now I know where that speech came out after seeing this) in relation tocaracter of the director and all the “behind scenes” of a musical, and ends with such  memorable numbers (and I want a skirt like Ruby in the number of 42nd st, the large with buttons  at one side) to finish with one of the most ambiguous end I can remember: Yes, of course, the show is done but what is the price? What wins? And it is the story of the artists but for me the character that steals the film is the director: I was completely intrigued by the whole backstory and a prologue that is ignored in relation to the history of this character ... and those moments of melancholy and depression, living in a musical where everything isn’t so “happy” - except the part that indeed ys “happy” and “cheerfull” when everyones  come to accept very easy the “new leading lady”, we know that the Girls who were characterized during an hour and ten wolud kill her to get that part ... but hey the end would be other-
What I loved about 42nd Street is that takes place and revolves around the selection of the chorus line (yes, now also know from were the movie “A chorus line” came). And do not miss all the stuff that show business"s concerned: employers hiring gangsters to take care of some “dude” to leave the star alone, contracts, accommodations (of all kinds), and all that jazz, but in the middle of that world, we have the “holy” Ruby look where she came to fall! ... but the good thing is that this is not the real world and is not going to happen to her like Bjork in "Dancer in the dark" either ... good girls triumph legally in this cinematic universe..., and then sing about girls gone astray  in a song like 42nd street: (the part where the girl jumps out the window and end up killing is amazing to display  New York and their streets.)
With you: 42nd Street

That's it for today's cinema lovers!
