Musical #4: Mame (1974)

I never said that the musicals of the week was going to be in any particular order ... and this is the proof ... now we jump to 1974 to see this mega-musical with Lucille Ball, called Mame.

I had read that many critics had "killed" this film at the time of release with their reviews... the truth is I can not understand why soo much anger... in general im just that angry only when the movie seem to be an insult to cinema ... and for me the insult begins when the film industry start to underestimates the viewer ... but even in those moments there is always something positive to rescue ...
Mame is a mega-production: the sets, costumes, paintings in Klimt’s Style of Lucille Ball and I have to say, that it has one of the best opening titles to remember (and I remember many) straight from the age "without computers": images of the ‘20s, black and white overlays and contrasting colors with paints and music! ahh just amazing ... don’t you ever forget that at that time it was all optical!
Well let's talk about the things that made me a bit of noise-when I saw it: fisrt is the "Weird" relationship of the nephew and his “colorful” aunt, but that's in the musical stage! The other thing were the voices ... they weren`t absolutely great ... it's like they fell halfway between "comedy song " and the unintentionally comic song... not at all times. Mame with Lucille I think was great, maybe, because  she had some continued expression of nostalgia in her eyes that really broke my heart, and like ussual... she was absolutly Lovely!!, besides who doesn’t want to have eccentric Aunt Lucille Ball?

A comedy musical for “childrens” with many "malicious"comparisons and double meanings for all the family members .. (If you ask me I think Wonka and Mame meets Mary Poppins and  her chimney Guy...)

The truth is that the most "noisy" parts of the film were temporal ellipses ... but nothing terrible. I still loved it! -Above all, I have to admit I am a person easily to convinced when you have a musical number, like the previous, which I must admit I was the only reason, in principle, that I want see it- What can I say!:  am I a girl from the south? Who likes lbanjos and big choruses, red, black and sunshine days? and that sort of sound that seems out of a 1930 cabaret? - with you: MAME!
